Read-a-Likes II

Do you enjoy reading Karen Kingsbury's works? If so, novels by Lori Wick, Terri Blackstock or Janette Oke should appeal to you.

Are you a Dean Koontz fan? If so, you might also read Peter Straub's books.

Do Diane Mott Davidson's culinary mysteries appeal to you? If so, Joanna Fluke's food-oriented mysteries might also interest you.

Did you enjoy David McCullough's "1776" or "John Adams?" If you did, Joseph Ellis' "Founding Brothers: The Revolutionary Generation" or George Washington should also interest you.

Evening Lecture Series

The Evening Lecture Series will continue with a session on Corporate Law issues on June 12th at 6:30 p.m. Presented by Sara B. Stewart, this informative lecture should last approximately one hour. The event will be held in the Library's Founders' Room. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be provided. For more information please contact Elizabeth at 413-7081.

International Film Series

The International Film Series will continue with "The Queen" on June 9th and "Marie Antoinette" on July 7th. Both movies will be shown at 2:30 p.m. in the Library's Main Meeting Room. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be provided.

Adult Summer Reading Program

Beginning May 14th, patrons may register for the inagural Adult Summer Reading Program. Individuals may choose to register at the Reference Desk, the Reader Advisory Desk or by calling 413-7074. Registration is free. This year's theme is "Goodies for Grownups." All patrons will receive a special goody bag when registering for the program.

The Adult Summer Reading program runs from June 6th through July 19th with events each Thursday evening (except the kick-off event which takes place on a Wednesday night). The program schedule is as follows:

June 6th at 7 p.m. (10 a.m. for seniors)--Storyteller Bil Lepp
June 14th at 7 p.m.-- Chinese painting with Janet Kozacheck
June 21st at 7 p.m.--"Gardening in the Heat" with Tommy Taylor
June 28th at 7 p.m.-- Performance by Mac Arnold and "Plate Full O' Blues"
July 5th at 5:30 p.m.-- Movie night--"National Treasure"
July 12th at 7 p.m.--Ice cream making demonstration by Debora Parnel of Clemson
Extension (free ice cream will be available for all in attendance)
July 19th at 6 p.m.-Bluegrass Picnic featuring music by "Borrowed Time"
At the July 19th event, food and drink will be provided to registered
participants while supplies last

The purpose of this blog is to provide book reviews, read-a-likes, website recommendations, programming information, and other resources to adult library patrons. The blog will be updated frequently with new book and website recommendations appearing each month. While adults may post to the blog, all contents posted will be subject to editing. Inappropriate language or offensive remarks will be removed from the blog.
